Please circulate this notice to veterans and those who help veterans in your community. We attach a JPG version of the notice, suitable for posting on your website.
Veterans can participate by webcam or by phone. Veterans without access to phone or internet can also travel to locations in each region, where the Project will provide computers to connect with attorneys, as well as printers and scanners. Project staff will be available on site to provide help.
Attorneys will participate remotely, using Zoom software. Attorneys can provide quick advice and brief service on issues with special relevance to veterans, including veterans and military benefits and other legal matters, such as consumer, family, housing, shelter, and other civil issues, but not including criminal law.
The February 27th event will offer easy access to veterans in counties surrounding Savannah and Augusta. Veterans from other parts of Georgia can also participate, depending on the number of participants and available attorneys.
The project represents a partnership between the University of Georgia School of Law’s Veterans Legal Clinic and the Military Legal Assistance Project of Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP). Funded by the American Bar Association, the project will host six clinics designed to extend legal services to veterans throughout Georgia.
