SOPERTON - Today Everett Dykes Grassing begins two Georgia DOT roadway maintenance jobs improving State Route (SR) 46 conditions and longevity in Laurens and Treutlen counties. Both contracts combine for a $806,757 investment.
Crews will enter travel lanes in Laurens County first and then work towards Soperton.
Contract provisions cover:- Laurens County
- SR 46 from the Dodge to Wheeler County line
- Work includes 30 total lane miles
- Crews will asphalt patch, single-surface treat (rock seal), stripe and apply raised reflective pavement markers.
- Treutlen County
- SR 46 from the Wheeler County line at the Oconee River to downtown Soperton
- Work includes 16 total lane miles
- Crews will asphalt patch, thin lift level bumps over drainage structures, single-surface treat, stripe and apply raised reflective pavement markers.
There were 17,297 work zone related crashes that occurred in Georgia in 2020.
Distracted driving is a key cause of work zone crashes. Cell phone use is prohibited while you’re behind the wheel.
