DUBLIN, GA, AUGUST 20, 2020 — Superintendent Dr. Fred Williams announced Wednesday that Dublin City Schools currently has an order placed that will provide Chromebooks for every student in the system, but those devices aren’t expected to be shipped until “mid to late September” due to high demand.

In a statement made earlier today, Dr. Williams said, “Every child will receive a Chromebook when our order is shipped to us in mid to late September. Meanwhile, students/parents who indicated that they have no device in the home will receive a Chromebook at the beginning of the school year. The remaining students will receive a Chromebook when we receive our order.

“Moreover, Internet can be accessed in the front parking lot of every school. We are also working with the City of Dublin to ride their fiber and throw our internet signal around the City of Dublin to provide more access. We will also provide hotspots in strategic locations in the community where great numbers of students/parents indicated they had no internet connection.

“We will make sure every student has a device and connectivity. However, we are prioritizing based on survey results that were previously completed. Those students will be contacted by their schools concerning device pickup in the coming weeks. We appreciate your patience with the process. If you have further questions, please email pr@dcsirish.com."
