Crack seal closing US 80 lanes from DT Dublin across the river
DUBLIN - Contract crack sealing crews will enter travel lanes beginning tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. on State Route (SR) 26/US 80 beginning from East Dublin moving back to the downtown square.
The current plan, that could be adjusted due to congestion issues, is to close both inside lanes and the center turn lane for up to one-mile. Staff will monitor this and change if problems occur.
Various lane closures in the two-mile Laurens County area will run through Sunday and possible into this coming week. General work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in this area.
Crack sealing is a slow-moving pavement preservation technique preventing further roadway deterioration from the elements.
Once complete here, Briggs Brothers Enterprises should move down to SR 19 from downtown out to the Wheeler County line. The final area covered in the contract is four miles of SR 87/US 23 BU route through the city of Cochran.
These two areas have previously seen complete deep-base asphalt patching.
